Signify is the world market leader with recognized expertise in the development, manufacture and sale of innovative, energy-efficient lighting systems and services. Over the past 125 years, Signify pioneered many key breakthroughs in sustainable lighting, being a driving force behind several leading technological innovations, including LED. In 2018, Signify launched Light Fidelity (LiFi), a high-speed broadband internet connectivity through light waves. It allows people to connect and communicate while maintaining a high quality of light.
Sustainability strategy in Ayala Land is embedded into the way they conduct their business. In 2017, Ayala Land took sustainability to the next level by taking on higher impact initiatives to prepare for a low-carbon future and contributing to efforts in managing climate change through its carbon neutrality program, a bold commitment for the company to have net-zero emissions in its commercial properties by 2022.

Signify’s pledge to the World Green Building Council’s Net Zero Carbon Buildings commitment as well as their aim to deliver 2 billion LED lamps and luminaires by 2020 are aimed at increasing energy efficiency, decreasing global electricity consumption and reducing global carbon footprint. Signify has been recognized on the Climate A list for their leadership in environmental performance, as well as supplier engagement leader by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).
Tackling climate change is a top priority for Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited that’s why they set the goal of achieving carbon neutrality in their operations. Over 70% of approximately 4,300 light installations have been converted in the parking building at City of Dreams Manila, saving nearly 27,700 kWh monthly. To help them understand where other savings can be made, they are optimising their building management system at City of Dreams Manila to collect data from individual submeters and track energy use and temperature.

Signify has a strong portfolio, offering a wide range of energy efficient products, systems and services that help consumers, companies and organizations to reduce their energy consumption and comply with related CO2 emissions reductions. According to their target, revenue of energy efficient products, systems and services would be up to 80% in 2020.
Mondelēz International has set a global carbon emissions reduction target of -15% (in absolute terms) by 2020, against a 2013 baseline. This target is communicated externally. A new carbon reduction target to 2025 is currently in development and will be published in 2019. Internal targets (per tonne) are developed by the region to 2023. For Mondelēz Philippines, annual goals are set each year by the region in consultation with the site.

Since 2012, Mondelez initiated their zero waste to landfill program to help eliminate waste brought to landfills. This was done through waste mapping, plant-wide awareness campaigns to enhance segregation and efficiently increased recyclable wastes. They had collaborated with their waste hauler and supplier through the “Return to vendor program” and increased the “waste reuse” opportunities. Waste laminates from their process are shredded and sent to some of their cement-industry partners to be used as fuel for their kilns.
Signify aims to use and manage the planet’s limited resources in a sustainable way. For their products, they incorporated circular economy design rules. These design rules optimize products for easy recycling, spare parts harvesting, refurbishment and technical and economic lifetime extension. In 2016, Signify launched a five-year program that targets all their manufacturing sites to send zero waste to landfill by 2020. In 2018, they were able to effectively reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill, as defined by their commitment, by 17% compared to 2017.

Ericsson has actively contributed to all 17 SDs, in particular, they have placed strategic importance in meeting SDG 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Ericsson believes that it’s the combined power of these two which helps to differentiate their unique approach. With expertise in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and long-standing industry partnerships, Ericsson has a strong platform for making decisive advances to help make the SDGs a reality.
SM Prime Holdings Inc. is the Secretariat of the ARISE Philippines Network of UNISDR ARISE. As such, it supports the SFDRR which addresses SDG 1, 11, and 13. SM Prime puts an active effort in involving stakeholders to contribute to the company’s goals in achieving the SDGs. The company’s view of sustainability is about ensuring that its initiatives are geared towards a better and sustainable tomorrow.
Ayala Land Inc. have mapped their four focus areas with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and identified SDGs that would be addressed per focus area: Overall – SDG 11; Site Resilience – SDG 13, 14, 15; Pedestrian Mobility and Transit Connectivity – SDG 3, 9 Eco-Efficiency – SDG 6, 12 and Local Economic Development – SDG 1, 8, 10.

Their policy covers and prohibits gifts and entertainment (including hospitality) intended to influence official conduct in a manner that constitutes improper conduct or results in improper business advantage.
As a global player aware of its critical role to stop trafficking in local and global supply chains — ICSTI, through a Php5-million grant by the Foundation in 2018, has supported the advocacy of Voice of the Free Foundation, Inc. (formerly the Visayan Forum) in the implementation of its key programs, including victim identification in transportation systems, raising public awareness on human trafficking, and supporting victims in rebuilding their lives.

Transitioning to a Competency-Based HRM DBP introduced the DBP Competency Model that serves as a guide in defining the skills standard or profile required for success in every role and position in DBP.
Whole Person Development is a top priority for Melco Resorts in both Manila and Macau. It is a holistic approach which embraces a generalist career path beyond a technical or functional-only focus. It includes experiences that enhance personal growth and fundamentally create a stronger foundation for success in the future. Moreover, Melco Resorts partnered with Edinburgh Napier University to announce the development of the Melco YOU-niversity for local employees who were yet to achieve a university degree.
Aboitiz’s philosophy in talent development is based on the individual needs of the team members based on one’s current and foreseeable future role. The Company has a refreshed learning program called the Aboitiz Academy which entails a blended learning combination of formal classroom training, on-the-job training, coaching and mentoring and e-learning. The Company also partners with online learning platforms such as Coursera and Bersin to provide practical and higher-level training programs for the team members.

Mondelēz Philippines has several projects as support to improve their water management performance. They utilize the 3R’s in their water sustainability initiatives: Reduction at source, Recover and re-use, and Recycling: – Reduction at source through installation of waterless urinals and faucet aerators – Recovery through Rainwater harvesting: 2 units of 137-m3 capacity tanks were installed to recover rainwater. They also optimize the recovery of AHU and Steam condensates – Wastewater generated from their domestic and manufacturing operations are treated and meets DENR standards.
Ayala Land does installation and retrofitting of low-flow water fixtures, automatic faucets and flush, and automatic irrigation system. For high-efficiency fixtures, part of their mall design standards are sensor-activated faucets for lavatories and water-saving flush valves for toilets and urinals, which generated 20% savings in water consumption compared to conventional water fixtures.

For the first time, factories around the world can use the Higg Facility Social & Labor Module to measure social impacts of the value chain. And with the Higg Facility Environmental Module they can assess environmental impacts.
Supply chain sustainability for Honda is fundamentally about sharing quality assurance rules from the time of parts development about 2 years before mass production of a certain model. It also includes continuous improvements in cost, delivery, safety, environment and human capital. With the expansion of global parts procurement vis-a-vis local manufacturing, their development, procurement, and production operations work together to assure quality because this translates to public and road safety, environmental impacts of our products and operations.

Ayala Land Inc.’s long-term success at co-creating sustainable communities rests on the support and contribution of their stakeholders, who in turn count on them to deliver on Ayala Land Inc. commitments. To this end, Ayala Land Inc. implements the appropriate level of engagement with their various stakeholders. In 2018, the brands’ engagement with their sellers and brokers was made more apparent by various achievements including the following: for ALP, 46 sales training sessions nationwide, attended by 420 trainees, sales summit, sales kick-off and annual awards, general assemblies and 20% increase in the number of accredited brokers.

Ericsson, in partnership with Smart Communications Inc., has launched the Connected Mangroves project to help conserve the marine ecosystem of the Bangkung Malapad – a critical habitat and ecotourism area in the Philippines. The “Connected Mangroves” project was awarded under the United Nations Momentum for Change ICT as a shining example of how ICT and mobility can be used together to restore dwindling mangrove plantations and while protecting residents from natural disasters such as flooding.

Coffee for Peace (CFP) is an enterprise established by the Peacebuilders Community (PBCI), a peacebuilding non-profit organization with the intention to bridge Christians and Muslims in Mindanao. Realizing the greater intricacies surrounding conflict issues in Mindanao, Coffee for Peace was seen as an economic solution to peace, recognizing that it is “hard to talk about peace when people are hungry.” Coffee for Peace interventions also have an environmental impact, particularly on the watersheds, through tree planting that contribute to the restoration of the forests in the Philippines.

Coffee for Peace began in 2006 when the founders helped to facilitate an informal conflict mediation, with their whole Mindanao-based peacebuilding network, between certain Migrant and Bangsamoro farming communities. The two groups were involved in an armed conflict for the ownership of several rice fields ready for harvest, regardless of who planted the rice or who really owned the land. Instead of shooting each other, the leaders of the two parties-in-conflict were invited for a dialogue over coffee. Since then, the two communities avoided killing each other. They started inviting other surrounding communities to have coffee together — for peace.

In 2016, Signify launched its “Brighter Lives, Better World” program, setting targets for sustainable revenues and sustainable operations leading up to 2020.
